At the Performance Improvement Group meeting on 23 April 2007, John Seddon of Vanguard presented his systems approach to the design and management of work. Further information about this approach can be found on the Vanguard website www.systemsthinking.co.uk/home.asp
This approach has similarities with LEAN methodology. On 14 February 2008, members of the Performance Improvement Group, facilitated by the Scottish Leadership Foundation, undertook an Organisational Raid on Standard Life Investments. The purpose of the organisational raid was to learn about Standard Life Investment’s approach to performance management, with a view to identifying possible lessons for social work services.
