Leadership & management
To ensure leaders and managers have the courage, vision and skills to develop social work services fit to anticipate and respond to future needs.
Workstream
Our approach will be to develop a Leadership and Management framework that sets out the skills and competencies appropriate to each part of the system at a variety of levels. This includes
- Front line leadership
- Strategic leadership
- Academic leadership
- Political leadership
The work will be taken forward in partnership with the Scottish Leadership Foundation, ensuring that the framework is set in the wider context of public services leadership. The framework will then form a basis for supporting the development of leadership and management skills across the whole system.
Success Criteria
- People at all levels display effective leadership skills, enabling others to achieve their potential.
- Front line staff are empowered to improve outcomes for service users and carers.
- Effective management practices ensure good governance of services.
- Authority to make decisions is devolved appropriately and safely to the front line.
- A learning culture is widespread and evident across organisations.
