Personalisation
Improving outcomes for individuals and communities is the key overarching theme of the work of Changing Lives. To help achieve this we need to build capacity to deliver personalised services.
This is not new. Personalisation of services, ie building services around individuals rather than putting individuals through services, has been an important ambition of Public Service Reform. Social work and social care services impact very directly in the day-to-day lives of many people and it is important that this happens in a way that improves outcomes for people, families and communities and fully involves the individual in developing solutions to their needs.
The Service Development Group has been exploring what we mean by the term ‘personalisation’ and what this might mean for practice. Alongside this, work is being taken forward by the User and Carer Group into the idea of ‘Citizen Leadership’ and how people can participate more fully and effectively in the design and delivery of services and support.
